Christian-Muslim Marriage Seminar

This is part of a series of seminars on Christian-Muslim marriage.

Our aim is to offer exploration of the issues to religious leaders and others working with inter faith couples and provide pastoral support to those who are in inter faith relationships.

Some of the issues we will be exploring:

  • What is the reality 'on the ground' in our faith communities?
  • How do we support the religious development of children with inter faith parents?
  • How to support couples in their individual faith journeys

Potential Case Studies

  • Exploring the interface between the theological/jurisprudential and ethical/pastoral
  • Conversion within a same-faith marriage and its implications
  • How to handle interfaith marriages
  • Issues relating to children
  • Helping your partner practise their faith – challenges and religious duties
  • what might a representative of one religion write to the parents/family of the ‘other faith’ partner to reassure them that their religious identity will be respected?
  • How to help devout people not to leave or reject their faith because their relationships have not been accepted
  • Handling religiously distinctive practices within an inter faith relationship – e.g. Christmas, Easter, Ramadan, Hajj
