Exhibition: 17th June to 15th July
This second round of the exhibition takes place at St Barnabas Parish Church between 17 June and 15 July.
The following events are taking place:
Make a leaf to grow our Trees of Friendship
Sunday 17 June 2012, 2pm - 6pm, Free, drop-in session
Judaism, Christianity and Islam all stem from Abraham/ Ibrahim. All three talk of a Tree of Life that stands within a paradise garden. This tree clothes, feeds, shelters and supports us all.
Help artist Diane George to make a communal artwork. Make small paintings of flowers, letters and leaves and add these to two large, golden trees to be displayed at St Barnabas' Church.
All tools and materials supplied. No booking required. Children should be accompanied by an adult.
Sacred Geometry, with artist Tom Bree
Sunday 1 July 2012, 2pm to 6pm, free
For adults and teenagers there will be regular and short practical geometry sessions. In these sessions participants will use compass and ruler to produce a simple geometric grid which will then be used to produce two different patterns - one Christian style pattern and one Islamic style pattern. The two patterns will be drawn on separate pieces of tracing paper that are placed on top of the simple geometric grid. After drawing the patterns there will be the chance to colour them. This exercise is fine for beginners in geometry.
The idea is to point out that despite our outward differences of culture and religion we are all united by the universal mathematical truths of God's Creation.
For younger children who wouldn't be able to use compass and ruler there will be a ready made pieces of black card that have a pattern of shaped holes cut out of them. Participants will then glue various pieces of coloured tissue paper onto one side of the black card so as to produce something much like a stained glass window. The pre-cut patterns will be of both Christian and Islamic patterns.

Conversations for the Soul: Tree of life
Sunday 15 July, 7pm - 8.45pm
Conversations for the Soul is an interfaith tandem dialogue, bringing people of different faiths together to meet in pairs and discuss beliefs and practice in a more meaningful and deeper level.
We will read verses from the Quran and the Bible, where tree is mentioned, and discuss both readings, look at similarities and differences, what can be learnt and how that can be put into action.
Led by Julian Bond and Zahra Imame, from the Christian Muslim Forum.
